If you’re like most people, you haven’t yet heard of exosome therapy. That’s because this is a cutting-edge technology used to help patients with a wide variety of injuries and medical conditions. At Health Pro Wellness Center, we offer exosome therapy under the supervision of our Medical Director, and Dr. Jacqueline Cortez-Sammons.
Request an AppointmentWhat Are Exosomes?
Exosomes are the extracellular vesicles that stem cells release to do their work and include hundreds of different growth factors, peptides and pure amniotic fluid. These cells can be instrumental in repairing tissue and organ damage and restoring communication between cells.
Research
Amniotic injections have been approved by the FDA for use in regenerating skin for burn victims and tissue for patients with large wounds or lacerations. At this time, amniotic injections for joint pain are considered an off-label procedure.
Despite this, research indicates that exosomes may be helpful in restoring tissue in orthopedic injuries, neurological injuries, Alzheimer’s, strokes, sports injuries and more. Injections of these special cells can help create the “scaffolding” necessary to repair and generate new cells to accelerate healing.
Our Approach
Exosomes may be administered by injection, IV or through a nebulizer, depending on the patient’s specific needs. IV delivery provides a more systemic approach, while injection may be used to direct the cells into a particular damaged joint, for example. Nebulized exosomes may be used for breathing issues such as asthma.
We will meet with you to discuss your particular situation and determine if exosome therapy is a good approach for you. We often combine this modality with PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy to help heal sports injuries. Combining these approaches often yields better results than either therapy on their own.
